Liabaquet Gîtes & Camping is located in Sarlande, a quiet village in the north of the Dordogne — part of what is known here as the Périgord Vert: the green Périgord. A region of rolling hills, dark forests and babbling streams. Somewhat less well known than the Périgord Noir around Sarlat, but all the more peaceful and authentic for it. The Dordogne's capital, Périgueux, is just under an hour's drive away, as is Limoges. Bergerac and Sarlat can be reached in approximately 1.5 hours.

Surrounding the campsite, you will find the landscape that the Périgord Vert is famous for: dense oak trees, deciduous and coniferous forests, narrow paths, and flowing streams such as the Isle and the Auvézère. Inviting throughout the year for long walks, mountain bike rides, or a day's fishing. In summer, you seek the cool shade beneath the tree canopies; in autumn, everything turns deep orange and gold. You will also delight in the breathtaking sunsets and the magical starlit sky!

The climate is mild Atlantic: summers with pleasant temperatures around 28–34 degrees and agreeable evenings where you can dine outside in comfort. Spring and autumn are soft and green — perfect for walking and cycling holidays without the heat. Winters remain mild with the occasional frost. Rain falls mainly in short showers; between May and September it is generally dry and sunny.

The Dordogne is rich in castles — Château Jumilhac at 6 km and Château Hautefort less than 30 minutes from the campsite are both well worth a visit. At the weekly morning markets in villages such as Excideuil, Thiviers and Saint-Yrieix-La-Perche, the stalls are piled high with regional produce: vegetables and fruit, meat, canard, walnut oil, olives, cheese, truffles, and mushrooms. In July and August, lively evening markets take place throughout the old village centres, where you can enjoy wonderful food and dance to live music.
